Transmission Infrastructure Delivery (TID) Update

Under Price Review 6 (PR6), EirGrid and ESB Networks continue to collaborate to deliver the most ambitious investment plan ever undertaken on the Irish transmission system. The TID Update report summarises joint progress against this plan.

What is the Transmission Infrastructure Delivery (TID) Update?

The Transmission Infrastructure Delivery Update is a joint EirGrid and ESB Networks report summarising the transmission projects being developed under Price Review 6 (2026-2030).

The PR6 Portfolio reflects a significant investment furthering the most ambitious programme of works ever undertaken on the transmission system. The work is required to connect significant volumes of offshore and onshore wind, solar and conventional generation, while also reinforcing the power system and implementing over 40 candidate solutions identified in the Shaping Our Electricity Future roadmap (EirGrid’s path to achieve our renewable ambition for the electricity sector) to support the future economic and social development of our country.

Further information on these projects is available from the grid section of our website. Our continued focus is to maximise the system benefit while minimising the infrastructure build required.

The TID programme reflects an enhanced, jointly developed forecast between EirGrid and ESB Networks, against a developing multiyear transmission programme for PR6. This approach integrates, where possible, end-to-end delivery requirements including outages, consenting processes, and resource profiling into a single, prioritised plan.

The quarterly TID report provides information on all transmission active infrastructure projects in the PR6 work programme and provides quarterly progress updates against four key project milestones: EirGrid Capital Approval, Project Agreement with ESB and Initial and Final Energisations for projects.

These milestones offer a consistent framework for tracking delivery and will enable stakeholders to better understand how projects advance through the project lifecycle.

The TID Update’s enhanced reporting programme and accessible format aims to improve visibility by providing earlier, more transparent, and more realistic signals on expected delivery timelines.

TID Updates and Publications

EirGrid is required to publish quarterly updates on the progress of all transmission infrastructure projects, as set out in the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) PR6 Final Determination Regulatory Framework decision (CRU2025197, section 7.1.5) and the PR6 User Guide (CRU2025200, section 6.2.2).

The TID report provides this quarterly update on the progress of all transmission infrastructure projects in the PR6 work programme, each monitored against its baseline programme of four key project milestones:

  • EirGrid Capital Approval,
  • Project Agreement with ESB,
  • Initial Energisation (where applicable),
  • Final Energisation.

Project dates and timelines provided in the TID Update are optimised to reflect a realistic delivery profile while taking project readiness and outage constraints into account.

View our outages page for more on transmission outages.

The status of projects in each TID report reflects a point in time. It is provided quarterly to show progress as projects mature, delivery resources are assigned and outages are forecast.

A guidance document with more detail on the purpose, content, and publication of the quarterly Transmission Infrastructure Delivery (TID) Update Report is provided below.

More information on the transition from the previous reporting process, the Network Delivery Portfolio (NDP) is included in the PR5 to PR6 Reporting Transition document, also below and alongside the, now archived, NDP reports.
