We are the people behind Ireland’s electricity grid. We operate the power system with world leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring everyone has power when they need it. But that’s not all. We are transforming the power system for future generations, and have a critical purpose to transform the power system to enable our society to meet our climate change and net zero ambitions.

Shaping Our Electricity Future
At EirGrid, we are preparing the grid to carry 80% of Ireland’s electricity from renewable sources in line with government targets. To achieve this, we need to add more renewable energy to the power system. This includes sources like wind and solar energy.
