All-Island Resource Adequacy Assessment

The annual publication allows industry, government, regulators and other stakeholders to facilitate the transition to renewable energy, supporting social and economic growth into the future, whilst ensuring the secure and resilient operation of the electricity system.

Outputs from this assessment are also used to inform the Single Electricity Market (SEM) Capacity Auctions, a mechanism to ensure that the electricity supply in Ireland and Northern Ireland continues to meet demand into the future.

Inside this All-Island Resource Adequacy Assessment, you’ll find a comprehensive analysis of how demand and generation could evolve over a 10-year period from 2026-2035. 

As the All-Island Resource Adequacy Assessment continues to evolve, this year through the addition of an Economic Viability Assessment, EirGrid and SONI have jointly undertaken a public consultation to inform the methodology and inputs and assumptions. 

We would like to thank our stakeholders from across the energy industry who have engaged and interacted with us throughout the consultation processes as part of developing this new process.
