Guidance Documents
Documents relating to controllability, categorisation, and certification are listed below, along with Technical specification documents which are published regularly.
This TSO & DSO Wind Farm Testing Protocol sets out the agreed approach between the TSO and the DSO in relation to Distribution Code Compliance Testing process for Controllable Wind Farm Power Stations (WFPS) with a registered capacity of 5MW or more.
Wind Farm Updates or Testing
Wind farms must submit a WFPS Load Profile Request Form before making any changes to wind farm characteristics, software upgrades or before carrying out any testing that is not scheduled with us.
Signal Lists
EirGrid issues a signal list for each controllable wind farm. Templates are published here for different types of wind farms Signal List Template TSO, Signal List Template DSO Type A, Signal List Template DSO Type CDE. These templates include a list of information the wind farm must provide for EirGrid to develop a site-specific signal list, to include Control System Parameters.
Note 1. For multiple market units: there shall be one set of Voltage related signals/measurands per connection point. There shall be one set of all other signals/measurands per market unit.
Note 2. The signal list templates now include a tab specifying how signals shall function or be calculated.
Grid Code Compliance Testing
The Schedule of Tests is a list of all tests that a wind farm must complete to achieve an Operational Certificate. These tests are divided into phase A (up to energisation), phase B (up to operational readiness) and phase C (up to operational certificate). A template procedure for each test in phase C and a corresponding WFPS Grid Code Compliance Test Report to help with the tests are published in the table below. A workbook Test report workbook is also published to help with calculations in the report.
