The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) comes into effect on 25 May 2018. It replaces the current data protection law in Ireland and the EU. GDPR relates only to ‘Personal Data’.
At EirGrid, we take our obligations under data protection law very seriously and we are committed to keeping your personal data private and secure. Our statement on what personal data we hold, why we collect it, why it is required, what we do with it and how we protect it is located here. It also explains your rights in relation to how we hold and use your personal data, how to exercise those rights, and what to do if more information is required or a complaint is to be made.
This privacy notice applies to all personal data we hold, irrespective of the relationship with us.
We respect your right to privacy. You can request access to the data we hold on you using our “Subject to Access Request” procedure.
Upon receipt of a “Subject to Access Request”, and in order to validate it, EirGrid will first verify the identity of the requestor. This will be done through matching the information completed in the request and the copy of the means of identification provided. This procedure will help to ensure that any information we hold, is released to that person only. We may need to contact you to ensure that we have received a request from you, or a person you have nominated on your behalf.
